2062's Repaint, Spring 2011

2062 is currently undergoing a repaint, in preparation for events later on in the year. Below is some information about the progress

Week 1:

The nearside NBC logo with some paint already removed
The rear NBC logo shortly before being removed
Lettering before removal
The Fuel Tap and Emergency Engine Stop
Fuel cap and lettering
Offside and Bristol logos
Fuel cap and lettering
At work stripping the paint
Stripped with light fixtures and lettering removed

2062 stripped of logos, lights and former shine
The offside sanded down

Old 'Bristol' and 'NBC' stickers were removed, while legal lettering was taken off. Sanders were bought and a start was made on rubbing down the existing green paint on the body. The pictures above show the location of the lettering for when the new paint is applied.

Week 2:

Further sanding continues on 2062
The roof is sanded down
The windows are removed and sanding continues
Some repairs are made to damaged panels
With the exception of the window frames, the sanding is neary complete

Work continued on rubbing down the body, plus removal of the final 'NBC' logo. The roof was also completely rubbed down, as well as the side and rear windows being removed, so that the paint in the recesses could be removed without damage to the window rubber. Fibre-glass body panels were also fixed where they had worn, fallen apart or been damaged over the years.

Week3:

The pictures in this week's gallery are all in Black & White, as the new colour scheme is being kept a closely-guarded secret for now. So you'll have to wait to see 2062 at her first event later in the year before the new colours are revealed. The final rubbing down around the window frames was completed. Masking was completed on the nearside, then undercoat was applied to the body panels and window frames on this side of the bus.

Final Preparation:

We can now reveal the new colour scheme as 2062's repaint nears completion.
